Summer Baseball League a Success
GILL's 2009 summer baseball league was a huge success!

We expect to continue to offer this league for the 2010 season. More information to follow in early spring.

Thanks to Jim Nilind and all the summer league volunteers for a wonderful job.
Snack Stand - All Members are Responsible

GILL has a substantial yearly budget. Our biggest annual expenses include approximately: 800 uniforms, 2000 balls, 1000 paid umpire games, new equipment, and player insurance. Our registration fees, which the league tries to keep affordable for all Islanders, will NOT cover these expenses.

We need alternate fundraising. The League's solution is the Snack Stand, and if the Snack Stand is to be successful, all members are required to select and fulfill one of the two options listed below.

Option 1 - Volunteer:

With this option, you'll be required to sign up for a 1.5 hour shift working the snack stand. Your team manager will have sign-up forms in late April. Once this shift is complete, your obligation to the league is fulfilled.

Notes:
1. Junior, Senior, and Big League divisions (baseball and softball) are exempt from Snack Stand duty.
2. The required shift is per player you have registered. i.e. if you have 2 players registered, 3 total hours will be needed.

Option 2 - Opt-Out:

With this option, you can "opt-out" of Snack Stand duty by paying a $25.00 fee. This fee is "not for profit" and will be used to schedule and pay replacement workers. Once the payment is received, your obligation to the league is fulfilled.

Notes:
1. Junior, Senior, and Big League divisions (baseball and softball) are exempt from Snack Stand duty and Opt-Out is not needed.
2. Opt-Out Option is per player you have registered. i.e. if you have 2 players registered, total fee is $50.00.

This is an important issue and the League takes it seriously. We need to have a successful and profitable Snack Stand to keep our registration fees low and maintain the League with quality equipment and facilities. The Snack Stand needs people to operate, and we either fill the hours with volunteers or paid help.

How it works:

GILL's Successful 2009 Season
GILL once again enjoyed a very successful baseball season. Our size has grown over the years and now includes over 800 players and well over 100 volunteers. We expect to be near capacity in 2010 so it's encouraged to register early. Registration information will be posted here soon.

Everyone at GILL thanks you for your support.
New Bat Regulation
Little League has instituted a new bat regulation that will go into effect for the 2009 season.
This new regulation requires all bats used in league play have a Bat Performance Factor (BPF) of 1.15 or less. GILL will more information posted shortly, but if you're planning to purchase a new bat soon, please ensure "BPF 1.15" is marked on the bat.
