2. Player Evaulations
Things to do:
Player Evaluations are NOT a tryout. The league commissioners will use the evaluations in an effort to create fair and balanced teams. We know by having teams that are competative, your player will enjoy the season and look forward to participating.
Important Evaluation Dates: (all dates are for 2011)
Mar 5: Baseball - International Division Evaluations.
Mar 6: Baseball - Minor Division Evaluations.
Mar 12: Baseball - Major Division Evaluations.
Junior, Senior, and Big League Divisions of Baseball do not conduct evaluations.

Mar 13: Softball - Minor Division Evaluations.
Mar 13: Softball - Major Division Evaluations.
International, Junior, and Senior Divisions of Softball do NOT conduct evaluations.
Please visit our Player Evaluations page for more information including location, times, and what to expect.
3. Player Draft/Team Formation
After the player evaluations and sometime in mid to late March, the GILL board of directors will select the team managers for all divisions.

Once the managers are selected, the league commissioners will hold a "player draft". The goal of the draft is creating fair and balanced teams. This normally takes place in late March.

By the end of March, all teams should be formed.
4. Player Notification
At this stage (beginning of April), the teams are selected and it's the responsibility of the team manager to contact all the respective players. During this call, you'll know the team name and manager's name and contact information. Manager contact information can also be found at Baseball's Manager List. or Softball's Manager List.

If your player has not received a call from a league manager by the end of the first week of April, please let the appropriate league commissioner know. All players should be contacted by the first week in April. Commissioner contact information can also be found at Baseball's Commissioners List. or Softball's Commissioners List.
5. Practices Begin
Practices normally start the first part of April. It's completely up the team manager and coaches to schedule practice times. Typically, you can expect 2-3 practices a week (1 - 1.5 hrs each).
Diamonds at Veterans Park are not used for practice, nor are they used before opening day.
Game Schedules are released in mid-April. All schedules will be on-line around the same time.
6. Opening Day
Opening Day is scheduled for May 7 ,2011
We hope everyone can attend. Many fun activities are scheduled, and "opening day" is always a special day!
